Lung was there and from what he was telling me there is no way in the world DB should have lost this game. Stats were extremely lopsided DB's way. Sounds like Devrin Young had a pretty good game for Bearden
Once again, the mighty Indians of Kingsport lose in the playoffs to a Knoxville-area school.
41-35 in OT to Bearden tonight.
I can't wait to read Bill Lane's meandering tripe in the paper. :2thumbsup:

Same song different verse..... same ol' Indians.... Just to many mama's boys....
"Players win games. Teams win championships."
All this did was to save D-B a trip to Maryville. Nobody would have liked the bus ride back to Kingsport after this game.
DB won time of possession 33 minutes to 15 and had over 500 yards of offense to BHS's 245. Bearden has absolutely nothing but Young. They ran every play out of the shotgun usually with two backs and 9 times out of 10 it went to Young. He ran the ball for 113 yards on 25 carries but as a team Bearden finished with 107 rushing. Their offensive line wasn't very good and as soon as the ball was snapped there were at least 3 DL in the backfield on every play. Young probably lost 50 yards trying to get away from people in the backfield. DB outtalents them 10x1. Cannon, Seabolt, Sensabaugh, and several other kids on DB's team can be good college players. Cannon and Sensabaugh both had over 100 yards. Sensabaugh had 180+. Bearden has Young and that's about it. DB killed themselves with penalties. they had 11 or 13 for about 150 yards. The dolts from DB I was sitting around were crying from the first flag on. I don't know how you complain about a false start penalty where the left guard comes out of his stance and the ball is never snapped. Late hits out of bounds, late hits in bounds, PI penalties that there was no reason to commit. Just horrible focus.
It was fun watching a game over there though. It just shows you how medicore ball is around here. Everyone who has seen Clintwood play has seen #53 and talked about how big he is at 6'6" 305 lbs, but it seemed like there were 10 of those on each of the rosters last night. 70 kids on each roster and kids that can actuallly run with speed and not the make believe speed that folks from Norton and Clintwood sometimes think they have. It's a whole other world.
As for Young he scored 4 rushing TD's and 1 TD on a KOR. They were short kicking so he couldn't touch the ball all night but on the TD the upback caught the ball, turned around immediately and pitched it back 10 yards behind him to Young who looked like he was shot out of a cannon up the home sideline and nobody had a chance of catching him. Can't wait to see him at UT. He didn't look as short as I thought he would and he's built like a tank. Absolutely ripped.

Was there myself ditto everything Lung said. DB is the overrated sports program in Tennessee, all they do is choke in the playoffs in every sport except volleyball. The guys on WKPT (the local radio) sounded like they were going to jump out of the radio booth window. The funny thing was I sat with Beardan QB family and his parents couldn't believe all the other schools there to root against DB (seen people from South, North, Cental, East, Science Hill, Tenn. High, Coach Stubbs cheered like crazy when kicker didn't get kick off). The Bearden folks said they appreciated the support. Once again the University of Kingsport is out of the playoffs and all is normal in the Model City.
You should have heard all of the excuses, blaming, whining, ect. going on after the game. I turned it over there and it was pathetic. Blaming officials. Basically calling Clark God. Saying that Sensabaugh was the best back in the state (I took it as a slight against Young who's commited to a D1 school). They were reading stats and they had DB with 11 or 12 penalty's and they said "Bearden... (he said something smartass I can't remember here) and then 3 penalties (emphasizing 3)" and then laughing. Most of DB's penalties were the obvious kind of stuff, late hits, false starts. It wasn't stuff that was that hard to call.

Lineman like that aren't the norm at DB. The last time I got to watch them they had munchkins out there. Looking at their starting lines each year in years past this was the biggest I could remember in a long time.

I don't know who #72 was on DB, but he held every play and the official finally called holding on him twice in fourth quarter. DB could have had a least five more penalties. The guys on WKPT are about the biggest homers ever but it is their station. When Tom Taylor did the DB games on 1320, he was the best around. He does the South games now on 100.7 FM., but all things considered DB should have won but did not, and never will win state. That gigantic wall that DB can't cross runs right down the middle of I-75, and there is a sign on it that says DB stops here.
According to their online roster #72 is Corey Hall. Did 77 play? Tyler Hayworth. I though the was not gonna play due to an ankle injury but wasn't sure.
Lung, looking at DB's roster, are you sure their pads didn't make them look bigger? Just putting together their 5 biggest guys on their online roster, I think RC has a bigger line than DB.
